India Post For more than 150 years, the Department of Posts (DoP) has been the backbone of the country’s communication and has played a crucial role in the country’s social economic development. It touches the lives of Indian citizens in many ways: delivering mails, accepting deposits under Small Savings Schemes, providing life insurance cover under Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) and providing retail services like bill collection, sale of forms, etc.

The DoP also acts as an agent for Government of India in discharging other services for citizens such as Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) wage disbursement and old age pension payments. With more than 1,55,000 post offices, the DoP has the most widely distributed postal network in the world.

 Position: Skilled Artisans

• M.V.Mechanic – 04 Posts
• M.V Electrician (Skilled ) – 01 Post
• Tyreman (Skilled) – 01 Post
• Blacksmith (Skilled) – 03 Posts
• Carpenter (Skilled ) – 01 Post

Qualification/ Experience:

• A certificate in the respective trade from any Technical Institution recognized by the Government OR VIII Std passed with experience of one year in the respective trade. (An experience certificate is mandatory for candidates who have applied with VII std. Pass without trade certificate)
• Candidates who applied for the trade of M.V. Mechanical should possess a valid Driving Licence (HMV) to drive any vehicle in service to test it.

 Age Limit: 18 – 30 Years

• SC/ST: By 05 years.
• OBC: By 03 years or Central Government servant: Servants up to 40 years by the instructions or orders issued by Central Government.

 Salary: Rs. 19900/- to 63200/-

 Selection Process:

• Selection of Skilled Artisans shall be made from amongst the candidates possessing the requisite qualifications by means of a Competitive Trade Test based on the syllabus in the respective trade.
• Syllabus, date, venue & duration etc will be informed to the eligible candidates along with Hall Permits.

Application Fee:

• Along with the application form, an Indian Postal Order for Rs.100/- (or) UCR receipt to be taken from any Post office should be enclosed towards the application fee.
• Further , the eligible candidates should pay Rs.400/- as an examination fee ( for the trade test) in the form of an IPO (or) UCR receipt for getting a hall permit and attending the trade test along with the payment receipt.

How to Apply:

• The separate application should be sent for each trade in separate envelope if applied for more than one trade and the candidate should superscribe on the envelope & application specifically as “Application for the post of Skilled Artisan in trade ” __________and should be addressed to “The Senior Manager, Mail Motor Service, No.37, Greams Road, Chennai- 600 006” and should be sent through Speed post / Registered post only. Applications received by any other means will be rejected.
• The last date of receipt of application is on or before 30.08.2024 by 17.00 Hours. Application(s) without complete information or without copies of desired certificates or the application(s) enclosing copy/copies of the certificate(s) without self attestation will be rejected straight way without any notice or information.
