At the time of its commissioning in 1888, the Mormugao Port comprised of 3 berths along with a breakwater having a length of 358 meters. As the years rolled by, the infrastructure slowly kept growing. By 1922, Berths 4 and 5 were built and the breakwater was extended to its present length of 522.40 meters. A mole of 270 meters was added.With the emergence of mining as a major industry in Goa, a Master Plan was evolved by the Portuguese for the development of Mormugao Port as an iron ore terminal, envisaging “dedicated berth fitted with Mechanical Ore Loading Plants, provided and financed by various iron ore exporters.

In accordance with this, in 1959 M/s Chowgule & Co. Pvt. Ltd., was permitted to set up Asia’s very first Mechanical Ore Handling Plant at Berth No.6, with a capacity of 1000 tph. Berth 7 was constructed as an adjunct to it. The Liberation of Goa on December 19, 1961 marked the end of an epoch in Goan history.

Qualification: – 

Graduate Apprentices:

• A degree in engineering or technology granted by a statutory University.
• A degree in engineering technology granted by an institution empowered to grant such degrees by an Act of parliament.
• Graduate examination of professional bodies recognized by the Central Government as equivalent to a degree.

Technician (Diploma) Apprentices:

• A diploma in engineering or technology granted by a State Council or Board of Technical Educational established by a State Government.
• A diploma in engineering or technology granted by University. A diploma in engineering or technology granted by an institute recognized by the State Government or Central Government as equivalent to (a) and (b) above.

Trade Apprentices:

• Passed 10th c lass examination with Science and Mathematics under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent +ITI (NCVT only) in Electrician Trade.
• Passed 10th class examination under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent+ITI (NCVT/SCVT)in Mechanic Diesel Trade.
• Passed 10th class examination under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent+ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in Computer Operator and Programming Assistant
• Passed 10th class examination under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent+ITI (NCVT) in welder trade OR (SCVT) in Broad Based Basic Training in production and Manufacturing Sector under Centre of Excellence Scheme and Advanced module of Centre of Excellence Scheme in Advance Welding.
• Passed 10th class examination with Science and Mathematics under 10+2 system of education or its equivalent+ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in fitter trade.
• Passed 10th class examination under 10+2 system if education it its equivalent +ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in Mechanic Auto Electrical and Electronics trade.

Technician (Vocational) Apprentice:

• Must have a certificate in vocational Course involving two years of study after the completion of the Secondary stage of school education recognized by the All India Council for Technical education.

Experience: – Freshers

Age Limit: – 18-27 years as on 01.11.2022.Relaxation to reserved category as per guidelines in this regard.

Salary: –

• Graduate Apprentices – Rs. 9,000/-
• Technician (Diploma) Apprentices – Rs. 8000/-
• Trade Apprentices – Rs. 7000/-
• Technician (Vocational) Apprentice – 7000/-

Mormugao Port Authority Recruitment 2023 Selection Process: –

• The final rank list would be prepared according to categories General/SC/ST/OBC on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates, The Selection will be made from the candidates who fulfill the minimum standard educational qualification and medical fitness.
• Only those candidates will be considered for the apprentice engagement who are based at Goa.
