Organisation Name: Railway Recruitment Board (RRB)
Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), Madras (now Chennai) functions under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. It is primarily responsible for recruiting the working and supervisory staff (Group ‘C’) required for Chennai, Salem and Tiruchirappalli Divisions and Head Quarters office of Southern Railway (SR) and Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai.
RRB calls for eligible applicants through “Employment News” (A publication of the Government of India). The employment notification is also published on the Internet web site. The applications are scrutinized for eligibility. The eligible candidates are called for a written examination with call letters being sent a month in advance of the date of the examination.

- Chemical Supervisor/Research and Metallurgical Supervisor/Research – 17 Posts
- Junior Engineer/Depot Material Superintendant (DMS)/Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) – 7934 Posts
Qualification:
Junior Engineer (JE):
- Three years Diploma or B.Sc. of three years duration or a combination of any basic streams from a recognized University / Institute.
Junior Engineer (Information Technology) [JE(IT):
- PGDCA / B.Sc. (Computer Science) / BCA / B.Tech. ( Information Technology) / B.Tech. (Computer Science) / DOEACC ‘B’ level course of three years duration or equivalent from a recognized University / Institute through regular or open and Distance Learning mode of education.
Depot Material Superintendant (DMS):
- Three years Diploma in Engineering in any discipline from a recognized University / Institute.
Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Physics & Chemistry with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized University/ Institute.
Experience: Freshers
Age Limit (As on 01 January 2025):
- Chemical Supervisor/Research and Metallurgical Supervisor/Research: 18 – 36 years
- Junior Engineer/Depot Material Superintendant (DMS)/Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA): 18 – 36 Years
Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST candidates – 5 Years
- OBC-Non Creamy Layer candidates – 3 Years
- Ex-servicemen candidates who have put in more than 6 months of service after attestation – Up to the extent of service rendered in Defence plus 3 years
- Persons With Disabilities (PWD) UR – 10 Years
- PWD OBC-Non Creamy Layer – 13 Years
- PWD SC/ST – 15 Years
- Candidates ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 – 05 Years
Candidates who are serving Group ‘C’ and Erstwhile Group ‘D’ Railway Staff, Casual Labour and Substitutes in Railways who have put in minimum of 3 years service (continuous or in broken spells):
- UR: 40 Years
- OBC- Non-Creamy Layer: 43 Years
- SC/ST: 45 Years
Candidates who are working in Quasi-Administrative offices of the Railway organizations such as Railway Canteens, Co-operative Societies and Institutes:
- Up to the length of service rendered (or) 5 Years, whichever is lower
Women candidates, who are widowed, divorced or judicially separated from husband but not remarried.:
- UR: 35 Years
- OBC- Non-Creamy Layer: 38 Years
- SC/ST: 40 Years
Salary:
- Chemical Supervisor/Research and Metallurgical Supervisor/Research: Level 7 – Rs. 44900/-
- Junior Engineer/Depot Material Superintendant (DMS)/Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA): Level 6 – Rs. 35400/-

Selection Process:
- Selection will be based on a Computer Test, Aptitude Test, Document Verification, & Medical Examination.
Application Fee:
- For all candidates: Rs. 500/- (Out of this fee of Rs.500/- an amount of Rs, 400/- shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges as applicable, on appearing in the CBT
- SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PwBD/Female/Transgender/Minorities/EBC: Rs. 250/– This fee will be refunded duly deducting bank charges as applicable, on appearing in the CBT
Modes of Fee Payment:
- Online fee payments through internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI will be accepted.
- Offline fee payment through SBI Bank Challan Payment mode in any branch of SBI
