Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) can trace its origins to the ‘Ecole de Medicine de Pondicherry’ established by the French Government in 1823. In 1956 foundation for new medical college was laid and in 1964, hospital was inaugurated. JIPMER became an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India in the year 2008.

It is an institution established for teaching, research and patient care in the area of health. JIPMER spreads over 192 acres. The institution houses one administrative block, one academic centre, one nursing college, seven hospital blocks, seven accessory services buildings and four residential complexes. 12 broad types of medical, nursing and allied health science courses covering all disciplines in healthcare from basic to super speciality training are conducted.

Qualification:

Junior Translation Officer:

  • Master’s degree of a recognized University in Hindi or English, with English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as medium of examination at the degree Standard level.  OR
  • Master’s degree of a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi or English medium and English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as medium of examination at the degree level.  OR
  • Master’s degree of a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as a compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at the degree level.  AND
  • Experience: Recognized Diploma or certificate course in Translation from Hindi to English or vice-versa from a recognized University/Institute or two years’ experience of translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa in Central Government or State Government Offices, including Government of India undertakings.
  • Desirable:
  • Knowledge at the level of Matriculation of a recognized Board or the equivalent of one of the languages other than Hindi mentioned in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
  • Diploma or Certificate course in Translation from Hindi to English and viceversa from a recognized University/Institute or Two years’ experience of translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa in Central or State Government Offices, including Government of India undertakings.

Junior Occupational Therapist:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized University/Institute or equivalent
  • Two years experience in the Occupational Therapy Department in a Hospital.  OR
  • Diploma in Occupational Therapy (not less than 3 years) from a recognized Institution/Hospital
  • Three years experience in the Occupational Therapy Department in a Hospital.

Medical Laboratory Technologist: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science  OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology  OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in MLT (Blood Banking) AND
  • Experience: 2 years relevant experience in a recognized institution/hospital.

Nursing Officer: 

  • B.Sc.(Hons) Nursing/B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council/ State Nursing Council-recognized Institute or University.  OR
  • B.Sc. (Post-certificate)/Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council/State Nursing Council-recognized Institute or University.
  • Registered as a Nurse and Midwife in the State/ Indian Nursing Council. OR
  • Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery from an Indian Nursing Council /State Nursing Council recognized Institute/ Board or Council.
  • Registered as a Nurse and Midwife in the State/ Indian Nursing Council.
  • Two years experience in a minimum 50 bedded Hospital after acquiring the educational qualification mentioned above.

Tutor in Speech Pathology & Audiology: 

  • Postgraduate Degree in Speech and Language Pathology or Audiology from a recognized University/Institution. OR
  • Degree in Speech and Language Pathology or Audiology from a recognized University/Institution.
  • Three years of teaching experience Desirable: Knowledge of Tamil

X-Ray Technician (Radiotherapy):

  • B.Sc. in Radiation Technology or B.Sc. in Radiotherapy Technology from a recognized University or Institution.
  • AERB e-LORA Registration with 2 years experience in operating radiotherapy equipment in an established centre.

X-Ray Technician (Radiodiagnosis):

  • B.Sc. in Radiography/ Medical Imaging Technology or equivalent (3 years course) from a recognized University or Institution.
  • Two years experience in operating radio diagnosis equipment in an established Institute/ Hospital/ Imaging centre

Technical Assistant Electronics (Physiology):

  • Degree in Engineering in Electronics or Electrical from a recognized University/ Institution or equivalent OR
  • Diploma in Engineering in Electronics or Electrical (3 years) from a recognized Institute.
  • Two years experience in maintenance of electronic equipment.

Technical Assistant (Nuclear Medicine):

  • Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology approved by AERB from a recognized Institution / University. OR
  • Degree in Physics / Chemistry / Bio-chemistry / Microbiology / Life sciences with Postgraduate Diploma (two years course) in Medical Radiation and Isotope Technology (DMRIT) approved by AERB from a recognized Institution/ University.

Group – C Posts:

Anaesthesia Technician:

  • Degree in Anaesthesia Technology from a recognized Institution/Hospital. OR
  • Diploma in Anaesthesia Technology (2 years course) from a recognized Institution/Hospital.
  • One year experience in handling anaesthesia equipments.

Audiology Technician:

  • Diploma in Hearing Language and Speech (DHLS) OR
  • Diploma in Hearing Aid (or) Earmould Technology (DHA&ET) from Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) recognized centre (or) equivalent.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of Tamil.

Junior Administrative Assistant:

  • 12th class or equivalent qualification from a recognized board or University AND
  • A typing speed of 35 w.p.m in English or 30 w.p.m in Hindi only on computer. (35 w.p.m and 30 w.p.m correspond to 10500 KDPH /9000 KDPH on an average 5 key depressions for each word)

Pharmacist:

  • Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized University or equivalent
  • One year experience as Pharmacist OR
  • Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized University/Institute.
  • Two years experience as Pharmacist And
  • Registered as Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act 1948

Respiratory Laboratory Technician:

  • Essential: B.Sc. (MLT) degree from a recognized University
  • Desirable:
  • One year experience in Pulmonary Function Test Laboratory ORAllergy Laboratory OR Respiratory Allergy and Immunotherapy Laboratory.
  • One year training in Computer Software handling.

Stenographer GR II: 

  • 12th Class pass or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board or University.
  • Skill Test Norms
  • Dictation: 10 minutes @ 80 w.p.m.
  • Transcription:65 minutes (English) 75 minutes (Hindi) (On manual typewriter) or 50 minutes (English) 65 Minutes (Hindi) (On computer)

Cardiographic Technician:

  • B.Sc. (Cardiac Technology) or (Cardiac Laboratory Technician) or (Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Technology) or equivalent.
