The National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) was established in November 1993 as an autonomous society under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India. NIOT is managed by a Governing Council and the Director is the head of the Institute. Major aim of starting NIOT under the Ministry of Earth Sciences,

is to develop reliable indigenous technologies to solve the various engineering problems associated with harvesting of non-living and living resources in the Indian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), which is about two-thirds of the land area of India.

Qualification/ Experience: –

Project Scientist – II:

ECE / E&I :

• M.E./M.Tech. in Electronics & Communication / Electronics / Applied Electronics/ VLSI Design/ Embedded system design/ Instrumentation & Control/Communication systems from a recognized university or institute.
• With Three years’ experience in Research & Development, Survey / Planning, supervision or training in the relevant field.

Life Science:

• D./M.Tech., in marine microbiology / algae / fin fish culture/Ballast water treatment/ biotechnology from a recognized university or institute With Three years’ experience.

Naval Architect /Ocean Engineering:

M.E./M.Tech. in Ocean Engineering/ Ocean Technology/ Ocean Engineering and Naval Architecture from a recognized University / Institute with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level With Three years experience.

Electrical:

• M.E in /Electrical/ Electrical & Electronics/Power Electronics /Power system from a recognized University / Institute with atleast 60% marks in the qualifying degree level With Three years experience.

Project Scientist – I:

Mechanical / Thermal :

• B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engg from a recognized University / Institute with atleast 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
• Desirable: M.E. / M.Tech from a recognized University / Institute.

Naval Architect / Ocean Engineering:

• B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical/ Civil/Ocean Engineering and Naval Architecture from a recognized University / Institute with atleast 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
• Desirable: M.E./M.Tech. in Ocean Engineering/Ocean Technology/Ocean Engineering and Naval Architecture.

ECE / E&I:

• B.E/B.Tech. in Electronics & Communication / Instrumentation Engg. from a recognized University / Institute with atleast 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
• Desirable: M.E./M..Tech. in Electronics & Communication / Electronics / Applied Electronics/ VLSI Design/ Embedded system design/Instrumentation & Control /Communication systems.

Electrical:

• B.E/B.Tech. in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engg from a recognized University / Institute with atleast 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
• Desirable: M.E in Power Electronics /Power system.
• Physical Oceanography/Chemical Oceanography: Master’s Degree in Oceanography/ Physical Oceanography/ Chemical oceanography/Physics/Ocean Technology/ Ocean science from a recognized university with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.

Life Science:

• M.Sc. in Marine Biology/Marine Science /Aquaculture/Zoology/Botany from a recognized university / Institute with atleast 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
• Desirable: Ph.D. Marine Biology/ Aquaculture /Zoology / Botany.

Biotechnology:

• M.Sc./B.Tech in Microbiology/Biotechnology/Bio-informatics from a recognized university / Institute with atleast 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
• Desirable: Ph.D./M.Tech. in Biotechnology/Bio-informatics.

Chemistry:

• M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from a recognized university /Institute with atleast 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
• Desirable: Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry.

Project Scientific Assistant:

• Mechanical: Three years Diploma in Mechanical /Mechatronics /Automobile Engineering.
• Civil: Three years Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• ECE / E&I: Three years Diploma in Electronics & Communication/Electronics & Instrumentation engineering.
• Electrical: Three years Diploma in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics engineering.
• Computer Science: B.Sc Computer Science / BCA / Three years Diploma.
• Life Sciences/ Bio Technology: Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or Diploma in Biotechnology / Bioinformatics.
• Chemistry: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry.

Project Technician:

• Fitter: 10th standard with two years ITI Tradesman Course in Fitter.
• Mechanical: 10th standard with two years ITI Tradesman Course in Draftsman Mechanical.
• Civil:  10th standard with two years ITI Tradesman Course in Draftsman-Civil.
• Electrical:  10th standard with two years ITI Tradesman Course in Draftsman-Electrician.
• Electronics:  10th standard with two years ITI Tradesman Course in Electronics / Instrumentation.

Project Junior Assistant:

• Any degree from a recognized Board.
• Desirable: Working experience of 2 years in organization of repute.
• Working knowledge of Computer, stenography and typing.

 Age Limit (As on 16 March 2023): –

• Project Scientist – II  – 40 years
• Project Scientist – I  – 35 years
• Project Scientific Assistant  – 50 years
• Project Technician – 50 years
• Project Junior. Assistant  – 50 years

Salary: – Rs 20,000 – 67,000/-
